Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team rebounded from a set one loss to the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers to score a 3-1 match win on the road Tuesday night in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Dordt pulled away to a 22-20 lead in set one and looked poised to take the set when the Tigers went on a five point run and took the set 25-22.
The two teams played even volleyball up to 6-6 in set two when Dordt went on a seven point run with Kendra Potgeter recording two kills in the run and were up 13-7 when they went on another four point spree. Back to back points by the hosts kept it relatively close but the Defenders ran off the final seven points of the set for a 25-10 win with Brandee Schaap getting the set winner.
Set three was tied 11 times up to 17-17 before a Brittany Landegent kill unlocked the tie and the Defenders rooled to seven straight points and eventually won 25-18 on a Tiger hitting error. Set four followed the same method with seven ties to 9-9 before a run gave Dordt a lead they never gave up, getting in front 16-10 and winning by an eventual 25-17 with Potgeter doing the honors on a slide kill.
Dordt is now 23-10 and got a match high 14 kills from Potgeter while Steph Fykstra and Danae Geels each had 11 kills and Landegent 10. Cassie Huizenga put up 23 assists and Jessica De Stigter 18. Dorinda Hibma got to 30 digs and Schaap had 16 with Kari Van Beek at 13. Wesleyan was led by Ashley Kley's eight kills and Meghan Cronberg's nine.
Dordt is now 10-4 in the league with two matches to go and Wesleyan falls to 1-13 in the conference and 12-21 overall.
Dordt hosts Mount Marty on Friday night at 7:30.
