Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team won their fourth match of the weekend at the Defender Volleyball Classic they hosted this weekend in Sioux Center. The Defenders snared a win over Sioux Falls to close the tournament on Saturday afternoon to complete a perfect 4-0 weekend and lift their record to 20-4 for the season. Sioux Falls had beaten Dordt twelve days ago in conference play.
Dordt won game one easily by a 30-16 score and jumped to a 7-0 lead in game two and stretched the lead to 24-15 before the Cougars made a run to narrow the gap to 28-26. The Defenders were able to hold on for the win and went on to roll in game three 30-18.
Dordt was paced by Kendra Potgeter and Kristin De Ronde with 12 kills each. Potgeter alos had five block assists and Larissa Veldhuizen had two solo and two assisted blocks to go with seven kills. Emily Van Voorst put up nearly 12 assists per game with 34 and Dorinda Hibma had 24 digs and Liz Van Voorst two ace serves and 13 digs.
Sioux Falls was led by Beth Mathes with 12 kills and Monica Bloyer had nine with Danielle Jenkins lofting 19 assists. Mathes led the team with 21 digs.
Dordt takes a 1-2 league record into their match with Morningside on Tuesday night in Sioux Center. Morningside is 4-0 in the conference and 15-0 overall and hold a #12 national ranking. The Junior Varsity match begins at 6:00 with the Varsity scheduled for 7:30.
