Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team won their 30th match of the season with a 3-0 shutout of Mount Marty in Yankton, South Dakota on Friday night, October 26 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

The Defenders had little trouble in game one braking away from a 14-12 lead to build up a 24-13 advantage on the way to a 30-19 decision. Game two had a tie as late as 8-8 before Dordt pulled away to a 20-13 advantage and ran to a 30-22 win in game two. In game three the Defenders were sluggish to start, trailing 9-8 before taking the lead for good at 10-9 and forging a 22-14 lead. Mount Marty did string together four points, their longest run of the night to get the lead down to 25-21 but Dordt controlled the rest of the match for a 30-23 decision.

Dordt's Autumn Vande Kamp had 15 kills while Kristin De Ronde and Larissa Veldhuizen had 12 and 11 each. Kendra Potgeter added nine as the Defenders had a kill efficiency of .418 for the match. Emily Van Voorst put up 42 assists and Dorinda Hibma had a team high 21 digs with Betsy Van't Hul getting to 10.

Mount Marty was led by Tara Adamson with 12 kills.

Dordt is now 30-6 overall and 11-4 in the GPAC while Mount Marty falls to 7-20 and 2-13.

Dordt maintains a half-game lead over Briar Cliff for fourth place in the conference. Morningside has the conference lead at 12-2 with matches with Concordia and Briar Cliff remaining. Hastings and Northwestern are tied for second at 11-3 with Hastings facing Briar Cliff and Nebraska Wesleyan and Northwestern has to play Dana and Dordt. Briar Cliff has a pair of matches remaining with Hastings and Morningside and stand 10-4 while Concordia is 8-6 and must face Morningside and Midland Lutheran. Doane is also 8-6 and face Sioux Falls and Dana.

Dordt hosts Northwestern on Tuesday, October 30 at 7:30.
