Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defenders lost a Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball match with the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday night.

The Wesleyan managed the 3-1 win with game scores of 21-30, 30-28, 30-28, 30-26.

Dordt had no problem in game one, clicking for the 30-21 win. Dordt used an eight point run to take control from being tied 3-3 to up 11-3 and were never really challenged the rest of the way.

Wesleyan pulled away from a 9-9 tie with three points in a row and led 17-14. Dordt did manage to tie the game at 17 and led briefly 19-18 only to have Wesleyan retake the lead and held on for a 30-28 win in game two.

Game three was tight through out with 12 ties to 17-17. Wesleyan scored four in a row to lead 21-17 but the Defenders fought back to tie it at 26 and led briefly at 27-26, only to have Wesleyan come back to score three in a row for a 29-27 lead and an eventual 30-28 win. Game four followed the same pattern wiht Dordt an dWesleyan battling to a 23-23 tie, the 12th of the game. Dordt took a lead of 24-23 but the Prairie Wolves scored four in a row to seize control and went on to win 30-26.

Dordt was led by Kendra Potgeter's 21 kills while Larissa Veldhuizen and Kristin De Ronde each had 13 and Autumn Vande Kamp put down 12. Emily Van Voorst had 59 assists with two block assists, two ace serves and 16 digs. De Ronde was in on four block assists and Dorinda Hibma led the Defenders with 18 digs and Betsy Van't Hul added 13. Wesleyan was topped by Abby Bade's 25 kills.

The win was Nebraska Wesleyan's first in eight tries against Dordt College.

Dordt College slips to 2-3 in the conference and 21-5 overall while Wesleyan improves to 2-2 and 8-4 overall. Dordt travels to 23rd ranked Doane College in Crete, Nebraska on Saturday, September 29.
