Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Northwestern (IA)

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Northwestern Red Raiders advanced on in NAIA Region III tournament play with a 3-0 match win over the Dordt College Defenders in Sioux Center, Iowa in quarterfinal action. The Red Raiders pulled away from an 11-11 tie to take a 23-15 lead and held on for the win at 30-27 on a kill by Karissa Davelaar.
Game two was all Northwestern as the Raiders pushed out to a 22-14 advantage. Dordt made it interesting with a late push but the Raiders won 30-24.
The Defenders fought valiantly in game four taking a 6-0 lead. Northwestern tied the game at 16-16 and a lead 21-18 only to have Dordt College even it at 23-23. The two were tied at 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 and 33 with Northwestern taking the final of 35-33.
Dordt was led in kills by Larissa Veldhuizen's 13 while Kristin De Ronde added 10. Emily Van Voorst put up 32 assists and Lindsey Van Wyk had 24 digs and Traci Kooima had 13 digs.
Northwestern was led by Megan Meyer's 14 kills and Kate Schnoes and Randa Hulstein were at 11 and nine kills respectively (unofficial totals).
Northwestern advances on to the semifinals where they will meet National American (#1 in the nation) on Friday night in Dickinson, North Dakota while Hastings will face Dickinson State. Dordt College ends their year 28-11 after starting the season 9-8. This is the 13th year in a row the Dordt College Defenders advanced to the NAIA Regional tournament level.
