Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Missouri Baptist

(San Diego, California) The Dordt College Lady Defenders were overpowered this afternoon by the Missouri Baptist Spartans at the NAIA national volleyball tournament. The Spartans never allowed the Lady Defenders to get rolling and forged a 30-22, 30-20, 30-22 decision. The Lady Defenders hung tough in game three, forcing nine ties, the last at 17-17 but the Spartans flexed their muscle and pulled away from a 25-22 advantage, scoring the last five points of the match.
Dordt was led by their senior trio of Jill Haan, Tara De Boer and Rachel Van Beek with 10, 10 and eight kills respectively. Emily Van Voorst put up 33 assists and Haan had eight digs.
Missouri Baptist was topped by Ana Mercado with 26 kills and two ace serves, accounting for nearly a third of the Spartans offense by herself.
Dordt ends their season with a 40-5 mark and were 2-2 in pool play at the national tournament.
