Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Iowa Wesleyan

(San Diego, California) The Dordt College Lady Defenders turned away Iowa Wesleyan in the first pool play match of the NAIA national tournament for both teams. The Lady Defender came from behind in game one, trailing 17-11, tieing it at 20 and roaring to the game one win 30-26. In game two the Mount Pleasant based school took the early lead and stiff-armed the Lady Defenders the rest of the way for a 30-25 decision.
Game three turned the tide for the Lady Defenders as they broke away from a 7-7 tie to take a 10-7 lead and never trailed the rest of the way for a 30-22 decision. In game four the Lady Defenders took the lead for good at 4-3 and won 30-24.
Dordt was topped by Tara De Boer with 21 kills, offsetting Lauron Baylon's 21 kills for Iowa Wesleyan. Rachel Van Beek had 16 kills and Kristin De Ronde and Jill Haan had 13 kills a piece. Emily Van Voorst put up 64 assists while De Boer had 2 ace serves. As a team the Lady Defenders had six ace serves and Traci Kooima led in digs with 22.
