Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Fresno Pacific

(San Diego, California) The Dordt College Lady Defender volleyball season came to an end in the semifinal round of the NAIA national tournament at San Diego, California. The Lady Defenders had chances in all three games.
Game one featured nine ties with the last one coming at 25 but the Sunbirds from Fresno Pacific responded with a four point run to make it 29-25 and they won 30-26.
Game two had the Defenders in front 12-6 early in the game but the Lady Defenders couldn't hold the lead and Fresno Pacific tied it at 12-12. The game was again tied at 20-20 before the Sunbird experience at the net resulted in a 26-20 lead and an eventual 30-24 win.
The Lady Defenders didn't go away quietly fighting to a 15-15 tie and trailed 20-19 but the number two rated team in the nation would not be denied and Fresno Pacific took game three 30-26.
Dordt's outside hitters, Rachel Van Beek and Lindsey Van Wyk both had 10 kills each and Rachel Pontier added 9. Alisa Den Hartog ended her career with forty assists in Dordt College's first ever trip to the NAIA national semifinals in any sport. Jill Bouma had 18 digs, six kills and three ace serves.
