Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. Morningside

(Sioux City, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders overcame a sluggish start to win their conference volleyball match with the Morningside Mustangs 3-1. Dordt won game one, using a eight point run to turn the game around, going from down 16-14 to up 22-16 in the process on the way to the win.
Game two had the Lady Defenders down early, only to see them scrap back to take the lead at 20-17. Morningside refused to face and tied the game up at 20 and from there the points came grudgingly. There were ties at every point from 25 to 34 before Morningside scored two in a row to take the marathon game by a 36-34 margin.
The Mustangs used the momentum from game two to take a 15-8 lead in game three and were poised to take a 2-1 lead in games, leading 21-13. Down by eight the Lady Defenders rose to the occasion on a variety of hit attacks and strong serving to tie the game at 26 before winning 30-27.
The Mustangs never recovered from the loss, falling behind by double digits in game four at 19-9 and losing by an eventual 30-18 score.
Tara De Boer led the Dordt attack with 22 kills while Rachel Pontier and Rachel Van Beek added 19 each. Lindsey Van Wyk had 10 kills to go with 20 digs and three ace serves. Alisa Den Hartog put up 68 assists. Jill Bouma and Tricia Beckering had 28 and 22 digs respectively.
Lindsie Honsbruch led the Morningside attack with 18 kills and Angie Hogue added 14. Samantha Vande Kamp put up 51 assists.
