Dordt College Volleyball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) Dordt College didnít lead in the first two sets of its match with Hastings College in Great Plains Athetic Conference volleyball play on Saturday, October 19 and lost 25-22, 25-22, 25-19. The loss was Dordtís third of the GPAC season.
Dordt fell behind 7-3 in set one and had to fight from behind from there. Dordt came back to narrow the gap to 22-20 on a Hastings attack error and Liz Kiel cut the gap to 23-21 as the teams exchanged points. Kielís kill was as close as Dordt would get as the hosts closed the set out 25-22.
Set two was more of the same as Hastings got up 4-0 and Dordt never got it back to tied, getting as close as 7-6 but the Broncos had breathing room throughout for another 25-22 win.
Set three saw Dordt get a 2-0 lead on a Hastings service error and a Jenna Horstman kill. Hastings took the lead for good at 5-4 and the Broncos were able to hold off the Defenders the rest of the way in a 25-19 win.
Hastings was able to limit Dordt to a .175 kill efficiency while hitting .250 itself. The Defenders were unable to get a service ace in against the Broncos. Dordt committed 20 hitting errors with 37 kills and had four service errors. The Defenders compiled 44 digs.
Dordt was led by Brooke Wolterstorff with nine kills and Lindsey Floen had eight and Jenna Horstman six. Kayla Gesink put up 25 assists and Kayla Broekhuis had 19 digs.
Katie Zoucha had a match high 14 kills and Jennifer Klaudt added eight while Chandelle Davidson put up 31 assists.
Dordt is now 8-3 in the conference with five conference matches left and the Defenders are 17-5 overall. Hastings is 9-2 and 18-9. Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Tuesday night in its next action.
