Dordt College Volleyball vs. Kansas Wesleyan-Bellevue Classic

(Bellevue, Nebraska) Backed into a 2-1 corner, the Dordt College Defender volleyball team responded with a pair of dominating wins in set four and five on the way to a 3-2 win over Kansas Wesleyan to close the weekend of play at the Bellevue Classic.
Dordt appeared on its way in set one with a 25-17 win it controlled start to finish, winning it on a Danae Geels kill, one of match high 14 the senior recorded in the match.
Dordt led set two 18-17 after a Wesleyan attack error, but the Coyotes took the lead at 19-18 and proceeded to win 25-22. Wesleyan took the lead for good in set three at 7-6 and won it 25-19.
Dordt responded with a 25-18 win in set four, pulling away after Wesleyan had narrowed the gap to 15-13. The Defenders then finished the match off with a 15-8 win in set five with Lindsey Floen capping it with a kill.
"This was the best match of the tournament for us as we stayed very focused for the duration of the match," said Dordt head coach Chad Hanson. "It's tremendous to play against a solid opponent and feel confident we are just as solid."
Dordt swung for a .205 efficiency at the net with Danae Geels recording 14 kills. Jenna Horstman added 13 and Loy Sahr 12 with a .435 kill efficiency. Floen had 10 kills and eight block assists. Kayla Gesink put up 45 assists and had 13 digs with an ace serve. Kayla Broekhuis got to 19 digs and Jana Van Zanten had 11 with an ace serve and was 20-20 from the service line. Jocelyn Bousema had two aces for the Defenders and eight digs.
Dordt is now 6-2 and will travel to Briar Cliff on Wednesday.
