Dordt College Volleyball vs. MidAmerican Nazarene-Red Raider Classic

(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College volleyball team bounced back with a win in match two of its action at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa late Friday night. In a match that didn't conclude until after 11:00 p.m. the Defenders handled MidAmerica Nazarene by a match score of 3-1 to even their record at 1-1.
Dordt won sets one and two 25-19 and 25-21 to take control of the match. The Pioneers responded with a 26-24 win in set three to avoid the sweep but the Defenders proved to be too much as they took a 25-20 win in set four over the Heart of America Conference member.
Dordt was led by Katelyn Schuller's 14 kills and Jana Van Zanten added 10. Loy Griess and Lindsey Moerman helped the balanced attack with nine and eight respectively and Danae Geels put away seven. Jessica De Stigter was the assist leader with 31 while Kayla Broekhuis dug up 12 attacks by MidAmerica Nazarene.
"It was a great team effort led by our two setters Jessica De Stigter and Kayla Gesink. They continue to work with our hitters while creating a balanced offensive attack," said Dordt College head coach Chad Hanson. "It's a joy to see us maturing in the little areas of the game like communication."
The Defenders take a 1-1 record into their match with Baker (Kansas) on Saturday in Orange City and they will conclude play at 3:00 against Jamestown (North Dakota).
