Dordt College Volleyball vs. Concordia

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College earned a 3-0 match win over Concordia (Nebraska) in a Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball match on Monday night in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt rolled to a 25-10 win in set one, pulling away from a 3-3 tie and had a seven point run to take control at 15-5. Three straight kills by Kendra Potgeter closed the set for the lopsided win.
Set two followed a similar pattern with Dordt racing to a 9-1 lead on nine straight points. A three point run by the Bulldogs cut the difference down to 11-6 but the Defenders had an answer with a six point run to pull away from up 13-8 to up 18-8 and won it on a hitting error by the visitors. Set three was featured the tightest race to 25 with Dordt falling behind 7-4. The Defenders evened it at 8-8 and the two teams were tied again at 9-9 and 10-10 before a kill by Lindsey Moerman gave them the lead for good and thre straight kills by Danae Geels made it 14-10. The difference was never less than three the rest of the way with Geels getting her fifth kill of the set and tenth of the match for the gamewinner.
Dordt was led by Potgeter with 11 kills and one solo block along with six assisted blocks. Danae Geels had ten kills while Moerman had five. Dorinda Hibma had a team high 12 digs while Jessica De Stigter and Bekah Posthuma had 15 and 11 assists respectively.
Concordia got nine kills out of Chelsea Vaudt and 12 assists by Alexa Hopping. Alex Szalawiga had nine digs to pace the Bulldogs.
Dordt is now 29-5 overall and 10-3 in the league while Concordia is 11-17 overall and 1-12 in the conference. Concordia plays Hastings on Wednesday while Dordt is at home with Northwestern on October 27.
