Dordt College Volleyball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) Dordt College lost a disappointing 3-2 decision to Hastings College in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball in Hastings, Nebraska, Saturday afternoon. Dordt won set one 25-15 but let set two slip away and lost 27-25. Dordt seemed to have the match in hand with a 25-20 win in set three but the hosts roared back to win set four going away 25-13. Tied 2-2 in sets, the Defenders couldn't get the win in set five and lost that one 15-13. This marked the second year in a row Dordt traveled to Hastings and lost a regular season conference match to the Broncos. This is the only regular season match scheduled between the conference foes.

Dordt's Kendra Potgeter led the team with 17 kills and had a .378 kill efficiency with one solo and nine assisted blocks. Danae Geels and Loy Griess each had eight kills with Bekah Posthuma lofting 26 assists and Jessica De Stigter set up 19 kills with assists. Posthuma also had two ace serves. Dorinda Hibma led all players with 42 digs.

Hastings had a balanced attack led by Kendra Schwein with 13 kills and Kirsten Nickel and Leah Dostal had 12 each. Hastings had 111 digs as a team.

Dordt slides to 21-4 for the year and 3-2 in the league. Hastings improves to 15-9 and is 4-2 in the conference. Dordt travels to Briar Cliff on Wednesday before returning home for matches with Nebraska Wesleyan and Morningside on October 8 and 9.
