Dordt College Volleyball vs. Bellevue-Bellevue Tournament

(Bellevue, Nebraska) The Dordt College volleyball team pushed #15 ranked Bellevue to five sets before succumbing to the Bruins at an Invite they hosted on Saturday, September 26.

The Defenders lost set one 25-15 and bounced back to take set two 25-21. Bellevue was able to hold Dordt off in set three for a 25-23 difference. Dordt again rebounded to win set four 25-17. Bellevue took the early lead in set five and were up 11-9 when a Bruin serve found the back line for a point and enough of a cushion to ride in for the 15-10 win.

Kendra Potgeter had 27 kills to lead all players and Jana Van Zanten had 15 kills. Cassie Huizenga led the Defenders with 28 assists and Jessica De Stigter lofted 21. Dorinda Hibma dug up 31 and Jana Van Zanten had 11. Four different players had one ace serve each.

Dordt is now 14-6 with all of their losses coming to ranked opponents. Bellevue improves to 14-4. One week ago Bellevue earned a 3-0 win over the Defenders in a tournament at Olivet Nazarene near Chicago. Dordt will travel to Mount Marty in Yankton, South Dakota on Tuesday for a Great Plains Athletic Conference match September 29.
