(Bellevue, Nebraska) For the second time in one week the Dordt Defender volleyball met up with and lost to the #5 ranked team in the country, the Georgetown (Kentucky)Tigers. The Defenders took the undefeated team to a fourth set before losing 3-1 by set scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-17, 25-14.
Dordt kept themselves in the match at the Bellevue Bruin Invite with 60 digs on defense while getting 33 kills as a team. Kendra Potgeter was the leader in digs with 12 while Jana Van Zanten had six. Jessica De Stigter and Cassie Huizenga had 13 and 11 assists each and Dorinda Hibma was the leader in digs with 23 with Huizenga getting 12. Steph Fykstra was in on a team high three block assists.
Dordt is now 13-5 with all five losses coming to ranked foes while Georgetown improves to 21-0. Dordt will face Bellevue and Bethany (Kansas) on Saturday.
