Dordt College Volleyball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team had little trouble in dispatching the Mount Marty Lancers in Great Plains Athletic Conference action in Yankton, South Dakota on Tuesday, September 29. The Defenders rolled to wins of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-16 in winning their third GPAC match in four outings.

Dordt trailed early in set one 5-2 before tying the set at 6-6 and stretched the lead to 11-6 and were never really challenged in taking set one by eight points. Set two had three early ties with Dordt scoring six points in a row to go from tied at three to up 9-3. Mount Marty never got closer than five the rest of the way and Dordt won by 11.

Set three featured six ties up to the 13-13 mark when Dordt rattled off two points in a row to take a lead they never relinquished on the way to a 25-16 margin.

Jana Van Zanten led a balanced Dordt attack with 10 kill sand she had nine digs. Brittany Landegent had nine kills and seven digs while Kendra Potgeter put down eight kills. Danae Geels was good for six kills and three block assists. Dorinda Hibma led all players with 23 digs and Jessica DeStigter had 19 assists and two service aces. Cassie Huizenga put up 17 assists in Dordt's 15th win of the season. Dordt is now 15-6 overall and were ranked #23 in the most recent NAIA national poll. Mount Marty is 0-5 and 3-14.

Dordt will host Midland Lutheran on Friday night, October 2, in the next match for the Defenders.
