Dordt College Volleyball vs. Peru State-Northwestern Tournament

(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team earned their first win of the season in their season opener against Peru State at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic in Orange City, Iowa.

Dordt won set one handily 25-11 and went on to sweep the best of five match with set scores of 25-22 and 25-19.

Jana Van Zanten (Freshman, Pella, Iowa) rang up 12 kills and Kelsey Van Dyke (Sophomore; Edgerton, Minnesota) added seven. Kendra Potgeter (Junior; Byron Center, Michigan) put away six kills and had two solo and six assisted blocks.

Cassie Huizenga (Senior; Orange City, Iowa) put up 23 assists and had four ace serves while Jessica De Stigter (Sophomore; Sioux Center, Iowa) had 13 assists. Dorinda Hibma (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) got to 19 digs to pace the Defenders.

Dordt is now 1-0 and will face Waldorf (Iowa) in the last match of the day at 8:30. Dordt faces Indiana Wesleyan and Black Hills State (South Dakota) on Saturday, August 29.
