Dordt College Volleyball vs. Our Lady of the Lake-Brownsville Tournament

(Brownsville, Texas) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team took a 3-1 decision over Our Lady of the Lake 3-1 in a match played at a tournament hosted by the University of Texas-Brownsville.

Dordt dropped set one by a 28-26 count but bounced back for a one-sided win in set two 25-14. Set three was tight with Dordt earning the 26-24 win and won going away 25-15 in set four.

Dordt was paced by Kendra Potgeter (sophomore; Byron Center, Michigan) with 19 kills and seven assisted blocks while Kelsey Van Dyk (freshman; Edgerton, Minnesota had 10 kills. Kristin De Ronde (senior; Oskaloosa, Iowa) put down two solo blocks with four assisted. Jessica De Stigter (freshman; Sioux Center, Iowa) lofted 17 assists and Cassie Huizenga (junior; Orange City, Iowa) had 11. For the second match in a row Dorinda Hibma (sophomore; Sioux Center, Iowa) led the Defenders with 16 digs.

Dordt is now 2-0 and will face Oklahoma City and the host school, Texas Brownsville on Saturday. Brownsville is ranked in the top-20 in the country.
