Dordt College Volleyball vs. Bellevue--Bellevue Tournament

(Bellevue, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team staged a comeback but came up just short in their finale at the Bellevue University Classic on Saturday night, September 27 against the #7 ranked host Bruins.
The Defenders dropped sets one and two by 25-20, 25-14 margins before storming back to tie the match with a pair of 25-15, 25-22 wins. Dordt scored the first four points of set five and led 11-10 but the Bruins roared back on both occasions, scoring the final five points of the set and match for the win.
Dordt was paced by Kendra Potgeter's 21 kills while Kelsey Van Dyke and April Solsma both had 12 kills. Dorinda Hibma led the team with 26 digs and Brandee Schaap got to ten and Solsma had two solo and four assisted blocks in Dordt's third loss of the season.
Cassie Huizenga and Jessica De Stigter had 27 and 30 assists respectively to lead the Defenders in their first loss since September 5.
The Bruins got 20 kills from Kali Schnacker; 51 assists from Candace Clow and 29 digs by Katy Gregory.
Dordt drops to 18-3 for the season and resume play this Tuesday when they face the Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa for Great Plains Athletic Conference action. All of Dordt's three losses this season have come in five sets.
