Dordt College Volleyball vs. Doane

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team came back from a 2-1 set deficit to defeat Doane College for the second time this season and improved to 5-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in the process.
One night after beating Nebraska Wesleyan 3-1, the Defenders went to the limit and handed Doane their fifth loss of the season and their second in GPAC play. Doane came from behind to claim set one 27-25 but the Defenders stormed back with a resounding 25-12 win in set two.
Set three had Doane hold Dordt off 25-22 and the Defenders continued the pattern with a solid 25-17 win. Set five had Dordt in front 6-1 early and the hosts rode that lead in for the win.
Dordt's Kendra Potgeter had 22 kills against just three errors in 50 swings while Kelsey Van Dyke knocked down 20 kills with four error sin 38 attempts for a .421 kill efficiency. Kristin De Ronde went over the top for 13 kills and just one error in 23 chances and Larissa Veldhuizen was good for nine kills.
Dorinda Hibma led all players with 33 digs and Jessica De Stigter had 14 digs with 35 assists. Cassie Huizenga lofted 26 assists and Van Dyke had 11 digs.
The two teams combined for just two ace serves in the entire match. Dordt hit for a.347 kill efficiency while Doane had 77 digs to Dordt's 95.
The Defenders are now 21-4 this season and will host Northwestern on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:30.
