Dordt College Volleyball vs. Kansas Wesleyan-Bellevue Tournament

(Bellevue, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team won their 11th match in a row with a 3-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan at the Bellevue Classic, Friday, September 26, in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Dordt had little trouble with Wesleyan in their second meeting of the season with a 25-11, 25-19, 25-16 decision over the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference member. It was the Defenders' first match of the classic while Wesleyan had played a match earlier in the day and lost to GPAC member Northwestern 3-0.

Dordt was led by Larissa Veldhuizen and Kendra Potgeter with nine kills each while Brandee Schaap added eight and April Solsma six. Dordt split their setting duties three ways with Cassie Huizenga leading the team with 11 assists, Jessica De Stigter put up ten and Steph Goslinga lofted seven.

Kelsey Van Dyke led in digs with ten and served four aces. Fellow freshman Amber Weingartner got to ten digs and Dorinda Hibma dug up nine and had two aces.

Sarah Claborn was tops for Kansas Wesleyan with nine kills and 11 digs. Karissa Kent had 15 digs and Jenn Lee 14 assists.

Dordt is 18-2 this season while Kansas Wesleyan falls to 3-10. Dordt will face Columbia (Missouri) and Bellevue on Saturday at 3:45 and 8:00 respectively. Columbia is ranked #6 in the country and Bellevue #7.
