Dordt College Volleyball vs. Dickinson State-Tie Break Match, NAIA Region III

(Sioux Falls, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball season came to a close on Saturday morning in a single game play-off match with Dickinson State at the NAIA Region III championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Dickinson State won the game 30-27 to advance and play Northwestern at 11:00.

The play-was necessitated by all three teams in the pool, Dickinson State, Northwestern and Dordt going 1-1 against each other within the pool on Friday in day one of the tournament.

The two teams were tied at 1, 2 and 3 and again at 13-13 when Dordt scored six in a row to go from down 13-7 to tied. The gwo teams played to ties at 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 before the seventh ranked Blue Hawks got a two point cushion to take control. Dordt trailed at one point 27-21 only to come back to within 29-26 but couldn't complete the comeback in falling 30-27.

Dordt was led by Kristin De Ronde's seven kills and Kendra Potgeter had six kills and Emily Van Voorst five. Van Voorst put up 16 assists and had a team high six digs in the match. Larissa Veldhuizen had a solo block and an assisted block for Dordt College in the loss.

The match stats do not count towards year end totals and the loss does not count on the season record.
