(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team beat their second Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference member on Friday at the Hastings Tournament with a 30-26, 30-21, 23-30, 30-25 decision late Friday night.
The Defenders used a balanced attack at the net with four players registering 13 or more kills. Larissa Veldhuizen, Kristin De Ronde and Autumn VandeKamp all had 14 kills and Kendra Potgeter 13 while Betsy Van't Hul totaled six kills with no hitting errors.
Emily Van Voorst put up 51 assists and had two ace serves while Steph Goslinga added three ace serves. Dorinda Hibma led the team with 29 digs and Van't Hul had 13 and Brittany Haan 10. Potgeter was in on two solo blocks and five assisted blocks while Kristin DeRonde added four assisted blocks.
Dordt is scheduled to face Central Methodist (Missouri) and Texas-Brownsville on Saturday. The Defenders are now 15-2.
