Dordt College Volleyball vs. Benedictine-Baker Tournament

(Baldwin City, Kansas) The Defenders beat Benedictine 3-1 to imrove to 2-0 overall in the Baker Tournament (Baldwin City, Kansas)after a scheduling change. Originally, Dordt was supposed to play Avila (Kansas) tonight and then face Benedictine at 1:00 tomorrow.

This was only the second time the teams had seen each other. Dordt came into the game with a 1-0 advantage but quickly fell behind Benedictine, giving up the first game 23-30. Although coming out strong, Benedictine wouldn't be able to counter the Defender attack, losing the last three games (30-24, 30-25, and 30-16)

Kristin De Ronde led the attack for the Defenders with 21 kills on 44 attemps. Outside hitter Larissa Veldhuizen was good for 14 kills on the night. Kendra Potgeter added an offensive and defensive presence behind the net with 15 kills and 8 blocks. Senior Liz Van Voorst led in assists with 45. Dorinda Hibma and Betsy Van't Hul had 21 and 20 digs in the game respectively.
