Dordt College Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defenders won their 29th match of the season with a 3-0 win over the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball action on Tuesday night in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The Defenders won game one 30-17 after pulling away from a 3-3 tie with six straight points on the way to a 9-3 advantage and blew the lead up to 22-9 beforeing winning by the eventual 13 point margin.

Dordt then led start to finish in winning game two 30-21, extending a 17-14 lead up to 21-14 before eventually taking a 2-0 lead in the match.

Game three had Dakota Wesleyan lead early and the game was tied ten different times before Dordt pulled away from a 25-25 deadlock for a 30-26 win.

Dordt was led by Kristin De Ronde's 17 kills while Larissa Veldhuizen added 11 and Autumn Vande Kamp 10. Emily Van Voorst accounted for 37 assists and Liz Van Voorst had three ace serves to go along with five digs. Dorinda Hibm led the team with 19 digs and Emily Van Voorst had a solo block to go along with 11 digs.

Wesleyan was led by Maria Wieneke and Jen Miner's 11 kills while Beth Kopfman had 37 assists and ten digs. Dena Kopfman got to 24 digs in the match for Wesleyan.

Dordt improves to 29-6 overall and 10-4 in the GPAC with two matches remaining while Dakota Wesleyan is now 6-19 and 2-11. The Defenders have matches with Mount Marty and Northwestern remaining and are tied for fourth in the GPAC. Dordt faces the Mount Marty Lancers on Friday, October 26 with the junior varsity match at 6:00 and the varsity match at 7:30.
