(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defende volleyball team lost a 3-0 match to #25 in the country Texas-Brownsville this afternoon at the Hastings College Classic in Hastings, Nebraska.
The momentum in this match swung around to Brownsville's favor in game one when the Defenders held a 27-25 lead but couldn't close it out and Brownsville came back to win it 30-27. The Defenders then lost games two and three 30-24 and 30-16 on the way to their third loss of the season against sixteen wins.
Dordt was led by Kendra Potgeter's 10 kills while Emily Van Voorst put up 26 assists and Liz Van Voorst had 3 ace serves in the loss. Dorinda Hibma and Betsy Van't Hul both had 17 digs and Potgeter and two solo and two assisted blocks in the match.
Dordt takes their 16-3 record into a conference match on Tuesday, September 18 against Briar Cliff in Sioux City. Dordt is currently 1-1 in the 16-match GPAC schedule.
