Dordt College Volleyball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The University of Sioux Falls Cougars beat the Dordt College Defenders in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball Tuesday night, September 11 at the De Witt Gym in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The Cougars took game one by a score of 33-31 after trailing 29-28. The game featured 18 ties with Sioux Falls getting the game winner on a Beth Mathes kill.

Sioux Falls pulled away in game two for a 30-23 win, using a five point run to go up 16-9 and never let Dordt get closer than six the rest of the way. Dordt had a lead of 21-17 in game three but the Cougars tied it with four straight and then took the lead for good at 23-22, winning by an eventual 30-24.

Dordt was led by Kendra Potgeter's 18 kills while Kristin De Ronde had 11 kills and Autumn Vande Kamp seven. Sioux Falls had 15 kills from Beth Mathes and 12 kills by Monica Bloyer.

Emily Van Voorst put up 36 assists for the Defenders and Dani Jacobs countered with 32 for Sioux Falls. Dordt's Potgeter had two solo blocks and one assist and Dorinda Hibma had 22 digs to lead the team.

Dordt is now 13-2 and 1-1 in the GPAC while Sioux Falls is 7-4 and 1-1 in the league. The win snaps a 20 match winning streak in the series between the teams dating back to 1998.

Dordt travels to the Hastings Classic this weekend where they face the College of Saint Mary, Bellevue, Texas-Brownsville and Central Methodist.
