Dordt College Volleyball vs. William Jewell-Baker Tournament

(Baldwin City, Kansas) Dordt College took a hard fought 3-2 win over William Jewell (Missouri) early Saturday morning, September 8 at a classic hosted by Baker College in Baldwin City, Kansas.

The Defenders let game one slip away 30-28 after leading 26-22 late in the game. Dordt rebounded to take game two 30-25.

"They had a jump server who got us off balance in game one when we were up," said Dordt coach Tom Van Den Bosch. "Then it was a battle."

Game three was a carbon-copy of game one with Dordt leading late by William Jewell snuck out a 31-29 win to put the pressure on the Defenders.

Dordt breezed to a 30-12 win in game four and went on to win game five 15-12 after a 10-10 tie.

"We blitzed them in game four and pulled away late in game five," said Van Den Bosch. "This was a pretty good team."

Dordt was led by Larissa Veldhuizen's 19 kills and Kristin De Ronde had 17. Kendra Potgeter and Autumn Vande Kamp each had 13 kills and Emily Van Voorst put up 57 assists.

Dorinda Hibma led the diggers with 36 and Liz Van Voorst and Emily Van Voorst had 18 and 16 respectively while Brittany Haan dug up 14. De Ronde had a solo block and four assisted blocks while Emily Van Voorst and Potgeter each had a solo and three assisted blocks. Dordt had 11 ace serves as a team.

Dordt is now 12-1.
