Dordt College Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team earned their ninth win of the season with a 3-0 defeat of Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota on Tuesday, September 4. The match was never really close as Dordt rolled to a 30-11 win in game one and then 13 points in a row in game two to win that game 30-15. Dordt was up 14-13 before Dorinda Hibma served them to 13 straight points. Game three was tied at 5 before Dordt scored six in a row and 11 out of the next twelve points and rolled to the 30-15 final. Dordt was paced by Autumn Vande Kamp's 12 kills against three errors in 23 attempts and Kendra Potgeter put down 11 kills with one error in 22 attempts for a .455 kill efficiency. Kristin De Ronde added nine and Betsy Van't Hul six while Emily Van Voorst had 31 assists. Dorinda Hibma and Brittany Haan had 11 digs each and Dordt totaled eight service aces with Hibma accounting for three and Emily Van Voorst and Betsy Van't Hul each had a pair.
Dakota Wesleyan was led by Kalie Whealy with seve kills and Dena Kopfman had 10 digs.
Dordt is now 1-0 in the GPAC and 9-1 overall while Wesleyan slips to 0-2 in the league and 2-4 overall. Dordt travels to Baldwin City, Kansas for four matches this weekend in a tournament hosted by Baker. Dordt will face Baker amd Avila on Friday. Both teams are out of Kansas. Saturday, the Defenders meet William Jewell (Missouri) and Benedictine (Kansas). Wesleyan travels to the Black Hills to face Black Hills State and South Dakota Tech.
