(Grand Rapids, Michigan) The Dordt College Defenders opened up play at the Cornerstone (Michigan) Volleyball Classic with a 3-1 win over Illinois-Springfield on Friday afternoon.
The Defenders won games one and two 30-16 and 30-24 but tripped in game three 26-30. Dordt put the match away in game four with a convincing 30-21 margin.
Kristin DeRonde and Autumn Vande Kamp each had 14 kills while Larissa Veldhuizen and Kendra Potgeter had 13 and 12 respectively.
Steph Goslinga put up 34 assists and had 15 digs while Becca Schelhaas and Betsy Van't Hul both had 20 digs to lead the team.
