Dordt College Volleyball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Falls, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team improved their season record to 25-9 with a 3-0 match win over Sioux Falls at the Stewart Center on the Cougars' campus Saturday night, October 28.
The Defenders had trouble closing game one out after building a 28-21 lead. Sioux Falls scored three in a row to cut the margin to 29-25 but Dordt was able to close the game out and move to game two where the two teams tangled for nine ties all the way up to a 14-14 count. Sioux Falls ran off four points in a row and after a time out, the Defenders went on a run of their own to take the lead for good at 19-18, eventually running it up to 20-18 before Sioux Falls ended the Defender run. Dordt went on to win the game 30-25 with Lindsey Van Wyk hammering seven of her team high 13 kills in the game. Dordt ran away with game three 30-16 for their 16th win in 17 outings since September 22.
Van Wyk had 13 kills and one ace serve to go along with 18 digs. Larissa Veldhuizen had nine kills and Kristin De Ronde seven in the win. Emily Van Voorst had 34 assists and two ace serves while Liz Van Voorst had two aces and nine digs. Traci Kooima had 20 digs-tops on the team and Betsy Van't Hul dug up 14 attempted kills.
Sioux Falls was led by Juliann Schoeneman with 10 kills (unofficial). Dordt has now won 18 meetings in a row against Sioux Falls dating back to 1998. The Defenders are 11-4 in the conference and remain tied with Doane for third place. Sioux Falls drops to 4-11 in the league and 10-22 overall.
