Dordt College Volleyball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender volleyball team took the seventh rated Hastings College Broncos to the wire and lost a 3-2 decision in Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Friday night in Hastings, Nebraska.

Oddly, all of the games were won by wide margins. Dordt led start to finish in game one for a 30-23 win. Hastings pulled away late in game two for a 30-24 decision and dominated game three 30-19--leading 21-6 at one point. Dordt fought back for a 30-21 decision in game four but Hastings rebounded for a 15-9 win in game five, pulling away from an 11-9 advantage.

Kristin De Ronde led all players with 27 digs while Lindsey Van Wyk had 19 kills and 40 digs. The Defenders had a whopping 144 digs against the king-size lineup Hastings put on the floor. Emily Van Voorst put up 46 assists and Traci Kooima had 29 digs. Liz Van Voorst and Betsy Van't Hul had 24 digs a piece.
