Dordt College Volleyball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders swept the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in Great Plains Athletic Conference volleyball on Wednesday night in Sioux Center in the conference opener for both teams.
The Lady Defenders trailed early in game one by a 10-5 score with Dena Kopfman ripping off four ace serves for the visitors to stake them to that lead. The Lady Defenders slowly chipped away at the deficit, cutting the margin to 20-18 and eventually tying the game at 21. The points came grudgingly after that with ties at 22,24,25 and 26 before Dordt College took the lead for good, winning 30-28.
Game two had the Lady Defenders establish a cushion of 18-12 before Wesleyan made a charge to cut it to 22-20. The Tigers would get no closer than three the rest of the game, losing 30-26. In the final game Dordt fought back from down 15-11 to tie it at 16 and won going away with a 30-23 margin.
Dordt was led by Lindsey Van Wyk and Kristin De Ronde wtih 13 kills each while Larissa Veldhuizen had seven kills. Emily Van Voorst put up 33 assists and had an ace serve. Traci Kooima led the Lady Defenders with 20 digs. Wesleyan was led in kills by Katrina Brooks with 11 and Maria Weineke had eight.
