Dordt College Volleyball vs. Newman-Northwestern Tournament

(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders took a five game win over the Newman (Kansas) Jets in an 11:00 match on Saturday morning at the Northwestern Red Raider Classic. The Defenders took games one and two by comfortable 30-20 and 30-23 margins. Newman fought back to win game three 30-26 and forced game five with a narrow 30-28 win. Game five was all Dordt College with a 15-5 win giving Dordt their second win of the weekend.

Dordt was led by Kristin De Ronde's 21 kills and five blocks. McKinzie Schmidt put down 15 kills and Lindsey Van Wyk was good for 14 kills and an ace serve with 16 digs. Rebecca Schelhaas also hit double digits with 11 kills.

Emily Van Voorst put up 65 assits and had three ace serves and was in on four blocks. Liz Van Voorst had 17 digs and shared match honors with Traci Kooima. Betsy Van't Hul had two ace serves
