Dordt College Volleyball vs. Morningside

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defender volleyball team turned away Morningside in Great Plains Athletic Conference play 3-0 on Tuesday night. Dordt College led start to finish in game one, winning by an eventual 30-14 count.

Game two was a see-saw affair with 15 ties, the last one at 19-19. The Lady Defenders trailed 19-17 before scoring eleven points in a row to take control of the game, and the match.

Game three had the Lady Defenders seize a 5-0 lead and an eventual 8-1 advantage and they never looked back in the 30-10 win.

Dordt was topped by GPAC player of the week Tara De Boer. The senior had 15 kills, ten of them coming in game three, and was part of a balanced attack as Lindsey Van Wyk and Kristin De Ronde both put down nine kills. Rachel Van Beek and Jill Haan had seven kills each for the Lady Defenders.

Morningside was topped by Kate Boeve with six kills and nine digs while Cara De Stigter had five kills. De Stigter was in on three blocks as was Cassie Cheever for the Mustangs.

Traci Kooima was credited with 17 digs while Steph Helmus and Haan both had 15. Emily Van Voorst, the GPAC setter of the week, put up 44 assists in the Lady Defenders eighth consecutive win.
