Dordt College Volleyball vs. Morningside

October 23, 2004

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders avenged an early October loss to the Morningside Mustangs with a convincing 3-0 win on Saturday, October 23 at the De Witt Gym.

Morningside jumped out to a 6-1 lead in game one before Dordt tied it at 10-10. Dordt jumped out to a 20-14 lead and rode that to a 30-21 win.

Game two had Morningside scoring the first three points of the game only to see Dordt tie it at 4-4 before pushing out to a 14-10 lead. Morningside fought back to tie it at 16-16 before the Lady Defenders responded with a six point run of their own. Dordt extended the lead to 29-22 before the Mustangs scored five in a row to make it interesting before the Lady Defenders closed out the game.

The Lady Defenders led from start to finish in game three, winning by a 30-24 margin.

Dordt was topped by Tara De Boer's 12 kills while Rachel Van Beek and Amanda Eekhoff had ten kills each. Emily Van Voorst had 18 assists and Halley Van Laningham 15. Lindsey Van Wyk had three ace serves to go along with six kills Traci Kooima led Dordt with 16 digs.

Morningside was led by Cassie Cheever's seven kills while Lindsie Honsbruch, Sarah McNeill and Kristen Staiert all had six. Honsbruch had 15 digs.
