Dordt College Volleyball vs. Doane

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The #5 Dordt College Lady Defenders turned away the #11 Doane Tigers in Great Plains Athletic Conference action at the De Witt Gym on Friday night.

Game one featured 10 ties with the last one coming at 20-20. From there the Lady Defenders reeled off three points in a row on the way to the 30-25 win.

Game two saw Dordt College build up a 9-4 lead and were never seriously challenged the rest of the way for a 30-20 win. Game three had Doane quickly in front 3-0 but Dordt tied the game at 4-4 and never trailed again, putting together a seven point run on the way to a lead that was never smaller than three the rest of the way.

Tara De Boer led the Dordt College attack with 17 kills while Amanda Eekhoff and Rachel Pontier had 12 each. Doane was topped by Kirby Schmidt with 11 kills and Allison Weaver had nine. Rachel Hagerman had 27 assists for the Tigers while Dordt's Emily Van Voorst had 29 and Halley Van Laningham 19. Jill Haan was perfect at the serve line, hitting two aces and put 25 out of 25 in play. Haan also had 14 digs while Traci Kooima and Megan Groeneweg had 15 to lead the Lady Defenders. Ashley Fitzgerald was tops on Doane with 15 digs and Gail Klitz had 12.
