Dordt College Volleyball vs. Madonna (Michigan)-NAIA National Tournament

(San Diego, California) The Dordt College Lady Defenders dropped their last match of pool play today against the fifth seeded Madonna Crusaders. The Lady Defenders won game one 30-27 in a contest that featured 14 ties, the last one coming at 25-25. Game two was all Madonna as they pulled out to a 14-5 lead and Dordt couldn't close it to less than seven th erest of the way in losing 30-20. Game three saw Madonna pull out to a 19-15 lead. Dordt battled back to within one on two different occasions, the last time at 27-26 before losing 30-27.

The Lady Defenders rebounded with a convincing win in game four, leading the entire way to a 30-23 decision.

Madonna never trailed in game five, winning 15-8. Dordt was led by Rachel Ponier's 21 kills while Rachel Van Beek added 19. Tara De Boer had 18 kills, five ace serves, 13 digs and was in on three blocks. Tricia Beckering led Dordt College with 40 digs.
