(West Palm Beach, FL) Dordt's volleyball team won their opener today in NAIA National Tournament pool play. The 7th ranked Lady Defenders defeated Azusa Pacific of California 3-1 by the games scores of 15-8, 15-5, 8-15, and 15-8. Karen Netz led the offense with 23 kills, while Rebecca Baber added 17. Alisa Kooima lofted 52 assists, and Darci Bouma fired three ace serves. Azusa Pacific was led by Jenna Sagehorn's 14 kills, while Tishanna Pope added 12 put-aways. Dordt hit .345 in the match compared to AzusaPacific's .197 spike percentage. Azusa slipped to 24-10 and 0-1 in pool play, while Dordt is now 32-7 and 1-0 in pool play.
