Dordt College Softball vs. Concordia

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost a 7-2 decision to Concordia in game one of their doubleheader on Tuesday night in Sioux Center.

The Defenders scored two runs in the first inning with Ashton Beaird and Michal Hoogland providing run scoring hits. Beaird doubled in Kassidy Van Voorst and Hooglan’s single scored Beaird.

Concordia scored two in the second and then plated five runs on three hits in the fourth inning to take control of the game and Dordt mustered one hit the rest of the game over the final four innings in taking the GPAC loss.

Sidney Larsen took the loss after allowing the go ahead run in the fourth inning in relief of Haley Fligge. Fligge allowed two runs on five hits and was relieved with two outs in the top of the second inning. Larsen was charged with five runs on five hits and struck out three.

Beaird’s double was the only extra base hit for Dordt as the Defenders were outhit 5-4.
