Dordt College Softball vs. Peru State

(Tucson, Arizona) Dordt College found themselves on the bottom end of a 5-3 decision to Peru State on Monday, March 10 in softball at Tucson, Arizona.

The Defenders tied the game with a run in the second inning when Selena Rinehart knocked in Bethany Dykstra with a single. Peru State had taken the lead with an unearned run in the first inning. The Bobcats took the lead for good with two unearned runs on two hits in the third inning, capitalizing on three Dordt errors in the frame.

Trailing 3-1 Dordt plated a run in the form of Samantha Dunn getting in after reaching initially on an error.

Peru State got two runs for insurance in the fifth to lead 5-2. Dordt threatened with two hits in the fifth but came away empty. Kassidy Van Voorst doubled in a run in the sixth and Dordt got the tying run to the plate, but couldn't get any more offense before being retired in order in the seventh.

Haley Fligge went the distance on the mound with six hits allowed and five strikeouts with two walks issued. Kassidy Van Voorst and Bethany Dykstra each had two hits with Van Voorst getting a run batted in and she had the lone extra base hit of the game for Dordt. The Defenders stranded eight base runners to four for Peru State.
