Dordt College Softball vs. Concordia (NE)

(Shawnee, Oklahoma) Dordt College dropped a non-conference game with Concordia on Friday in softball played in Shawnee, Oklahoma by a final score of 11-5. The Bulldogs scored four in the fifth inning and two in the sixth to pull away from a 5-5 tie.
Dordt score in the top of the first on a Bethany Dykstra solo homerun with two outs. Ashton Beaird followed with a double but was stranded at third to end the inning.
Concordia scored one in the bottom of the inning and then four in the bottom of the third for a 5-1 lead. Concordia capitalized on four hits and two errors in the third inning for their four runs.
Dordt tied teh game with four runs in the top of the fourth on four singles and an error and they stranded two runners.
A four run fifth inning unlocked the tie for the Bulldogs and they tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning for the 11-5 final.
Dordt was outhit 11-8 and committed two errors. The Defenders stranded seven runs in the loss.
Shantelle Gritters and Brittany Kooiker each had two hits and Gritters had a run batted in with a double. Ashton Beaird had a double and Dykstra had her homerun. Selena Rinehart walked twice for the Defenders.
Beaird took the loss, working all six innings with 11 runs allowed and two bases on balls issued while surrendering 11 hits.
