Dordt College Softball vs. Missouri Valley

(Tucson, Arizona) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost an 8-5 decision at the hands of Missouri Valley on March 14 in Tucson, Arizona.

The Defenders were up 3-2 after two innings. Ashton Beaird doubled in a run in the first inning and Ashley Van Kooten knocked in a run with a single in the second.

Missouri Valley erupted for five runs in the third inning when it capitalized on two hits and multiple wild pitches and walks to take a 7-3 lead.

Dordt got two runs batck in the third with two hits and two errors by Missouri Valley but the Vikings had a run in the fifth for the final of 8-5 as Dordt stranded three in the fifth and a runner each in the sixth and seventh as they outhit Missouri Valley 8-4.

Brittany Kooiker took the loss after working two innings and was charged with seven runs. Sidney Larsen pitched two innings and gave up one run and a walk with two hits allowed. Ashton Beaird had two doubles and scored a run with a run batted in and was 3-4 at the plate.
