Dordt College Softball vs. Hastings

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College had trouble solving Taylor Erlenbusch's pitching on Saturday afternoon and lost a 5-1 decision to Hastings in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball.

Erlenbusch struck out 12 and walked three while retiring nine straight batters and pitched a three-hitter on the way to the complete game win.

Hastigs broke through against Dordt starter Brittany Kooiker for four runs in the third inning when they capitalized on four hits, a wild pitch and a walk. The Broncos scored all four runs with two outs in the inning.

Dordt's run came in the fourth when Bethany Dykstra smashed a solo homerun to make it 4-1. Dordt wouldn't get another hit until Dykstra singled in the seventh to mount a threat that loaded the bases with no one out before Erlenbusch retired the final two batters of the game.

Dordt was outhit 8-3 with Kooiker taking the loss with one strikeout, six walks and five earned runs allowed.

Dordt is now 2-4 in the GPAC and 6-17 overall and will face Northwestern on Tuesday night in Orange City. Hastings is 4-0 in the league and 13-5 overall.
