Dordt College Softball vs. York (OBU Softball Festival)

(Shawnee, Oklahoma) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost a 4-3 decision to York (Nebraska) on Friday, March 1 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The Defenders got a run in the second on a Brittany Kooiker homerun. York struck for two runs in the fifth inning for the lead. Dordt came back wtih a run in the sixth inning when Bethany Dykstra got a run across with a sacrifice fly but the Panthers retook the lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Dordt tied it with a leadoff homerun by Haley Huisman in the top of the seventh. Dordt got the go ahead run on first but couldn't advance her and went to the bottom of the seventh with the score tied. York was able to load the bases and with two outs got the winning run across with a single.

Dordt was outhit 8-4 and committed four errors. Brittany Kooiker had two of Dordt's hits and knocked in a run with her solo homer. Sidney Larsen took the loss with four runs allowed with one strikeout and did not walk a batter.
