Dordt College Softball vs. Park

(Tucson, Arizona) The Park Pirates knocked 14 hits in their 10-3 win over the Dordt Defenders in softball play at Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, March 15.

The Defenders gave up one run in the second and then allowed two in the fourth and one in the fifth for a 4-0 deficit. The Pirates got out of striking distance in the sixth inning when they scored five runs on four hits for a 9-0 lead.

Dordt did get three runs back in the sixth, narrowly missing on an even bigger inning when they left two runners stranded. Megan Huizenga and Bethany Dykstra each had singles. After the runners advanced via passed balls, Brittany Kooiker was hit by a pitch to lead the bases. Kaitlyn Lockhorst then delivered a triple to score three runs and after a walk to Jocelyn Bousema the side was retired.

Dordt was outhit 10-8 with Lockhorst and Beaird each slugging doubles and Lockhorst also had a triple.

Brittany Kooiker took the loss while allowing 10 runs on 14 hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
