Dordt College Softball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, South Dakota) Dakota Wesleyan forged a split with Dordt College in game two of their doubleheader in Mitchell, South Dakota, taking a 3-1 winner over the visitors.

Wesleyan scored one run each in the first, second and third innings for a 3-0 lead, getting two unearned runs across for their first scores to take control.

Dordt got one in the fifth with Sidney Larsen reaching on an error and she eventually scored when Bethany Dykstra's grounder was misplayed for an error, allowing Larsen to score.

Dordt stranded a total of eight runners while outhitting Dakota Wesleyan 7-5 despite losing the game.

Sidney Larsen took the loss while going the complete game, allowing one earned run and had two strikeouts and two walks.

Ashton Beaird and Paige Fynaardt each had two hits with Fynaardt and Haley Huisman each batting doubles.

Dordt is now 10-8 in the league and 20-20 overall. Wesleyan is 17-24 overall and 10-6 in the conference. Dordt is scheduled to face Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, April 28 in the regular season finale for the Defenders.
