Dordt College Softball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) Dordt College scored two runs in the first inning and that was enough as they swept the Hastings College Broncos to go to 4-2 in the league and 7-1 for the week with a 2-0 win at Hastings, Nebraska on Saturday, March 31.

Dordt got their runs after Bethany Dykstra singled with one out and then Ashton Beaird walked. Kacy Oberfoell was retired for the second out of the inning and Megan Huizenga followed with a triple to get the runs in for a 2-0 lead.

Hastings was limited to five hits and got a runner as far as third base once, loading the bases in the seventh inning with two outs before Sidney Larsen got a pop-out from the Broncos lead off batter to end the game.

Dordt outhit the Broncos 6-5 with six different players getting base knocks. Larsen was the winner with one strikeout and two bases on balls issued.

Dordt is now 14-14 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Hastings falls to 1-5 and 13-18. Dordt will host Mount Marty on Wednesday in GPAC action at Open Space Park.
