Dordt College Softball vs. Concordia

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College softball team couldn't hold on to a 2-0 lead in game two of their conference doubleheader with Concordia in falling 4-2 on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center. The win gave the Bulldogs a sweep of the GPAC twinbill played under ideal conditions at Open Space Park.
Dordt took the lead on a lead off homerun by Ashton Beaird in the second inning and they tacked on a second run in the fourth when Kacy Oberfoell singled and advanced to second on a ground out. Jocelyn Bousema ran for Oberfoell and eventually scored on a Megan Huizenga single for the 2-0 lead.
The Bulldogs banged out four hits in the fifth and took advantage of a Dordt error to take the leade 3-2 and they got a run for insurance in the seventh before retiring Dordt in order in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the 4-2 win.
Dordt was outhit 10-4 with Ashton Beaird getting two of Dordt's hits. Huizenga and Oberfoell had Dordt's other runs.
Sidney Larsen took the loss while going the distance and allowed four runs--three of them earned, walked one and struck out two. Concordia's Amanda Beeson was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and one walk issued.
Dordt is 7-13 overall and 0-2 in the league while Concordia is 2-2 in conference play and 6-8 overall. Dordt will face Morningside in Sioux City on Monday afternoon in conference action.
